Shouldregulations for home schools be changed?

Althoughthe number of home schools is rising, it is imperative to crosscheckthe quality of education provided to children who undergo thehome-based program. The program is different to that of publicschooling regarding the environment and trainers involved. In thehome schools, the parents are accorded the responsibility of ensuringthat the kids aretrained(Hanna, 2011). The home-based education system issupportedin literature as being capable of providing better academic results, since the parents are significant in the process of the kids’education. Nevertheless, this does not extend to cases where theparents are uneducated or do not have the necessary qualifications. So, the regulations in home schooling are the processes of enhancingand controlling the education services delivered to children.

Tworeasons for selecting the topic

Withthe rise of this education program, the stakeholders in education areconcerned as to whether the parents possess the relevantqualifications to train their children successfully. To be able todeliver education services effectively to children, one need topossess the professional ability, which most parents are lacking.Teachers undergo several years of training just to obtain the licensefor educating children something that the parents in home basedschooling do not go through (Lubienski&amp Brewer, 2015).Thus, the children in home schools (in some cases) are exposed to theprograms that are not up to standard. These children aredisadvantagedin undertaking their education under a professional caretaker.

Moreover, the stakeholders have raised concerns over the assessment program ofthese children as to whether they should be external or remain undertheir parents. Even though regulations in some states require thatparents submit the reports to state education departments, theregulations are not backed with consequences of not submitting suchreports. Some parents, therefore, opt not to submit any report to thestate education departments. If a child is performing poorly, on theother hand, the parents may not wish to submit the study report.Whether the tests given to these kids are up to standard is difficultto confirm.

ThreeMajor Characteristics of the Audience

Theattributes of the audience targeted state education departments, parents associations, and education policy makers. The stateeducation departments are responsible for promoting and regulatingeducational activities and are a keyplayer in overseeing all the processes (Hanna, 2011). They have a bigstake in ensuring that home-based schooling is carried out as best aspossible to realize the highest academic achievements possible.

Theparents’ associations are also the key to the success of home-basedschooling. Of all the key players in this system of education, theyare the ones in contact with the child and the success of the childwithregard toacademics relies on how better they deliver the service (Lubienski&amp Brewer, 2015).They are also the promoters of the system due to the many reasonsthey oppose the public schooling.

Lastly, the policy makers in the education sector play a significant role inthe formulation of education structures in home-based schools. Theyalso provide guidelines and regulations for implementing the program.

Scopeand Outline

Thescope of the study is a demonstration of why homeschooling should beregulatedby state and policy makers in the education sector. In the defensiveportion of this thesis, the major points will be presented.Literature review analyzing the history of homeschooling will thenfollow. I will also include the analysis of the regulations ofhomeschooling in the literature review. Following the literaturereview will be data collection, analysis, and presentation. In theend, I will conclude on whether the home-based program requires moreregulation or not.

Questionsasked

Tofacilitate the study, I will formulate questions to provide apersuasive report. The questions will provide the guidelines I willfollow to provide the solution to the research problem (Ray,2011).The questions will include to what extent the reader understands theresearch area. What are some of the regulations within the studytopic? How much does the topic affect the audience? What are some ofthe benefits the study will achieve? Is there available case study toreference my study?

Researchplan

Toachieve the study objectives, I will employ some schemes. Paststudies regarding the topic will be an important source for thisstudy. These include the journals. I will also go through bookscontaining related information to assist in the study. Mostimportantly, I will analyze the statistics available regarding thetopic (Hanna, 2011). Finally, I will try to obtain information fromexperienced professional in the field of education.

Conclusion

Home-basedschooling should be regulated particularly in this era of extremism. The program should be under a professional, and a periodical reportshould be provided to enable progress and content analysis of whattakes place at these homes. Policy makers and other key stakeholdersshould find ways of harmonizing the system to concur with systems inpublic school.
