When your new Roku Player arrives, you might think that you can just plug it in and start watching content. However, you do need to activate it with a Roku activation code before you can use it.
This differs from using other players as they tend to be plug and play. However, there are some benefits to linking and activate your player. You will have access to Roku help, so that you can troubleshoot any issues that you might have; and it prevents any unauthorised access to your player, from your network.
Activating your player with a Roku activation code is easily done, just follow the steps below and you will be streaming your favourite TV shows and movies, and installing your favourite TV apps, within minutes.
How to activate your Roku player:
- Unbox your Roku player and follow the instructions provided for plugging the player into the power mains, and into your TV. Hint: It should say plug the player into the TV using a HDMI cable.
- Follow the onscreen instructions until you see the screen that displays your Roku activation code.
- At this point, either you can click the onscreen link or you can go to the Roku website and insert the code in the box.
- Click submit and your screen on the TV should tell you that your Roku player is now activated.
Now, you might think that your activation journey is over, but if you want to download any apps or access third party entertainment, you will need to continue following the onscreen instructions.
It should ask for your bank details and for some personal information, but this is for purchases only. Roku do not share your information with any third parties. If you want to access live TV channels, it will also use your bank information to fund any subscription services.
If you have any issues, when using your Roku activation code, you have access to Roku help here or you can download the Roku app for any Android or iOS mobile device and access troubleshooting from there.
