Do Ozone Generators Kill Insects?

Ozone generators do a lot of things. While ozone might be dangerous to breathe in for both humans and animals, it is also dangerous for insects. If you have a pest problem around your home, you may want to consider your options. Since ozone is composed of charged oxygen molecules, it tries to dump this charge into other organic things.

This includes plants, so if you plan to run it in a room, be sure to remove all of these things from the area. Never be in the same room and seal it off whenever you’re preparing to treat it.

If you want it to act as a pest control option, you have to specify where the bugs are congregating. This is usually in one or two rooms most of all, so pumping ozone into those areas first is beneficial. If your ozone generator is big enough, you can pump it through the whole house.

However, in order to get rid of bugs, you have to run it for a few hours over the course of a week. If you do your entire house, you’ll have to stay somewhere else for the time being. That is, at least for those few hours for the day. It takes about 1-2 hours for ozone to deteriorate into regular oxygen again, so be sure to keep that in mind.
